Michelle Eismann Plays Softly
Michelle Eismann illustrates, directs and reflects; besides creating moving and still images, she also makes mirrors. Recently, she emptied sand from her shoes after finishing a shoot on Ingarö and thought of seven songs to accompany seven days. Here are those seven songs, for seven days, to be played softly, however you see fit.
»Seven songs that make me think of seven days. Note: it will be without direction – as a summer should be.«
Moln i mitt kaffe by Anna-Lena Löfgren
»The – any – first day should always start with this song. I heard it on the podcast ›Den Flygande Jukeboxen‹. It's made by my good friend Patrick Stanelius, who has an amazingly good radio voice but also is a walking jukebox.«
Niclas Stenholm by Björn Olsson & Hans Asteberg
»The second day. Whistle songs are to me, what sticks are to dogs. Don't ask me why.«
High On You by Buzzy Lee
»The third day. Just being in the studio counts as part of summer. I share the studio with the photographer Elvira Glänte. We have two rules:
1. At 12 o'clock, we have lunch, and
2. The genre of sad singing voices should preferably be played loudly.«
Holding On by Tirzah
»The fourth day. Another good genre in life is doing nothing. If you can. I think it's good to be terribly bored, because that's when you come up with new ideas and plans.«
Dove by Cymande
»The fifth day. Damn, of course, I have a lot of things I want to build, see, and do. That's when I usually listen to this song, and start sawing or drawing without thinking too much about what it's supposed to be.«
Ancora Tu by Róisín Murphy
»The sixth day. For some unknown reason, this song works any and every day. No matter what you do.«
Up Me A Level by LisaLove
»… and on the seventh day, you rest? LisaLove has made a song that could be in the final scene of a movie where everything turned out well for the main character, who is now driving in a car with the windows down, and maybe the end credits roll against a shaky sunset? Or, maybe it's the scene where the main character dances in slow motion, and you don't know yet that everything will be okay. In any case, this is the song of the summer. Oh, and: Lune and Petter Granberg are featured on LisaLove's album, so when you're done with these seven songs, continue the summer with their new albums, and everything will feel like a movie.«
